We at Misa Robotics LLC (“us,” “we,” “our,” “Misa Robotics”) are committed to your privacy. This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can update, manage, export, and delete your information.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before using our website, www.heymisa.com (“Website”) and/or products, as this Privacy Policy will specifically detail our data privacy practices as it pertains to you and your child. We also encourage you to keep a copy of this Privacy Policy in your records, as we may update this Privacy Policy from time-to-time. We tried to keep this Privacy Policy in simple, easy-to-understand terms. However, in the event you have any questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at contact@heymisa.com.
This Privacy Policy discusses the following information:
I. Introduction to Our Products and Services
Here at Misa Robotics, we created a next-generation, social family robot named “Misa.” Misa is smart, interactive, and uniquely mobile, and can perform a variety of tasks, such as handling your schedule, playing with your children, and keeping your home safe.
As may be understood, Misa is directed, at least in part, to engaging with children under the age of 13. Misa may, for example, dynamically respond to a conversation with a child. The safety and protection of your child’s personal data is of utmost importance to us. As stated previously, please read all the terms of this Privacy Policy, and especially those pertaining to your child’s personal data, very carefully before proceeding with using Misa.
All of this will be detailed more thoroughly in the remaining portions of this Privacy Policy.
II. Information We Collect and How We Use It.
We collect a variety of information to help improve user experience, many of which constitutes you or your child’s personal identifying information. “Personal identifying information” may generally be thought of as information which may be used to identify a particular person.
We are collecting information through Misa Connect App link https://account.misaparent.com, which may be used further tailor your experience with Misa.
The information we collect may be broken down into Information You Provide, Actively Collected Information, Passively Collected Information, and Information Collected from Other Sources. Specifically, we collect the following types of information:
A. Information You Provide
The Information You Provide includes information you are prompted to give to us, and which you affirmatively decide to disclose. Such information may be collected when, for instance, you register your account or otherwise communicate with us.
i. Parental Information
When you register for an account, we may collect your name, address, email address, country, nickname, telephone number, and credit card information. We may also collect certain employment information such as your employer, occupation, your job title, and your VAT ID, in countries where this is applicable.
Additionally, we may collect certain demographic information, such as your gender, age, household income, and education level, which we may use to further tailor your experience with Misa to your needs.
Finally, you may also provide additional personal identifying information when you communicate with us by phone or email, or complete a questionnaire or contest entry form.
ii. Your Child’s Information
In registering your account, we may also request information pertaining to your child. For instance, we may request your child’s name, date of birth, and gender. We collect such information solely for the purpose of providing a dynamically tailored and interactive experience for your child, such as using Misa to wish your child a happy birthday or use his/her name in conversation.
B. Actively Collected Information
We collect user information from third party websites on behalf of website operators for their traffic analysis including the account identifier for the website operator, the URLs of web pages visited, any referring URLs to those web pages, the IP addresses and browser information, such as browser type, browser engine, operating system, and version, of website visitors, and a unique identifier for each website visitor.
i. Audio Recordings
We collect and use audio recordings only for limited purposes, as described in this Privacy Policy. Collection of such audio recordings will only occur when Misa is prompted to do so, such as by uttering the statement “Hey Misa.” In other words, Misa is not always collecting audio recordings, but only does so upon your direction. We use audio recordings to provide and maintain speech processing services.
We may also collect, use, store, process, convert, transcribe, analyze, or review audio recordings, along with text and transcriptions derived from such audio recordings, in order to develop, test, and improve our voice recognition technology, develop artificial intelligence algorithms, improve the relevancy of results provided by our services, and for other research and development purposes.
Put simply, we collect audio recordings to provide, and improve upon, your experience with Misa. As will be discussed in greater detail later in this Privacy Policy, we will not store any audio recordings, whether from yourself or your child, for a period greater than twenty four (24) hours.
ii. Child’s Audio Recordings
In addition to our previously detailed audio recording practices, we will only collect such child’s audio recordings upon your verified parental consent(If the user is below 13 years, parents/ legal guardians has to accept terms and condition and signed digitally followed by an email on their registered email address for the verification of signature.) and will provide you with the means to review and delete such audio recordings at your request, as will be explained in greater detail later in this Privacy Policy.
iii. Uploaded Content
We may collect the content you create, upload, or receive from others when using Misa or our Services. Such uploaded content may include photos and videos you save, or documents and spreadsheets you save. Such uploaded content will remain in our database until we are prompted to delete it.
C. Passively Collected Information
Passively Collected Information includes information we may collect whenever you interact us, whether through our services, our Website, our Misa Connect App, or through Misa. Such information may include, for example, information collected through Cookies.
i. Cookies
Like many websites, we use cookies to obtain certain types of information when you access your account, when you interact with our features or content, or when you view advertisements or other content provided by Misa Robotics or the third parties with whom we associate. Cookies are unique identifiers that we transfer to your device to enable our systems to recognize your device.
The information we collect through cookies includes browser type and settings, device type and settings, operating system, and mobile network information, such as carrier name, phone number, and application version number. We may also collect information relating to the interaction of your applications, browsers, and devices with our services, such as IP address crash reports, system activity, and the date, time, and referrer URL of your request.
If you wish to prevent us from using Cookies, you may use the “Help” feature on your browser and/or devices, which will tell you how to prevent your browser and/or device from accepting new cookies, notify you upon receiving a new cookies, or disable cookies altogether.
D. Information Collected from Other Sources
Information Collected from Other Sources includes information we collect not directly from your use of our services, Website, Misa, or Misa Connect App. Such information includes information we collect from other websites, and information we collect from other third parties. Although we may collect the following information, we note our data collection and privacy practices do not cover the initial collection of your information from such alternate sources. Accordingly, this section of the Privacy Policy merely operates to inform you of the possibility of our collection of such data.
i. Information from Other Websites
We may collect user information from third party websites on behalf of website operators for their traffic analysis including the account identifier for the website operator, the URLs of web pages visited, any referring URLs to those web pages, and the IP addresses and browser information, such as browser type, browser engine, operating system and version, website visitors, and the unique identifier of each website visitor.
ii. Information from Third Parties
We may collect certain information we receive from other sources when you authorize a third party website, such as Facebook, to interact directly with our website, Misa, or Misa Connect App. Such information may include personalized information about you or your child. For instance, we may receive information such as your name, or other information used by that third party to identify your account on their website.
Additionally, we may receive information from other third parties such as information we receive from our partners to improve our web information services. Such information may include truncated IP addresses, browser information, the full URL clickstream for websites visited along with advertisements on those websites, and the searches performed using search engines along with their results.
E. How We Use the Information We Collect
In accordance with the previously detailed collection practices, and the specified uses of the different types of personal information, we would like to emphasize we only use any such collected information to enhance your experience with our services, Website, Misa, and Misa Connect App. Certain portions of such collected information may be shared with certain third parties, as provided in greater detail hereafter, in order to further enhance your experience with us.
As may be understood, such user enhancement comes in a variety of forms. For instance, we may use your information to:
- Administer your account
- Provide you with access to particular services
- Respond to your inquiries and send you administrative communications
- Perform testing and development activities to improve our services
- Provide services offered by our affiliated third parties by sharing certain portions of such collected information therewith
III. Your Notice and Consent to Our Collection of Information
A. Your Notice and Consent
You may be notified of, and subsequently consent to, our data collection practices pertaining specifically to your personal identifying information in several different ways.
For example, when you are using our website, a banner may appear at the bottom of the screen asking you to accept our Terms of Service (link) and Privacy Policy, with links attached to each. By clicking on the button labelled “I Accept,” you are indicating your assent to the terms disposed in each agreement. Please read each agreement before indicating assent in such manner.
Further, when you download our Misa Connect App, you may be presented with our Privacy Policy. Similarly, we will construe your assent to the terms contained in this Privacy Policy when you click on the button and/or box indicating you accept such terms.
Finally, we note you will likewise indicate your assent to the terms disposed in this Privacy Policy when providing verified parental consent as to the data collection of personal information pertaining to your child, as outlined below.
Each of these consenting practices are not cumulative, and the indication of your assent to the terms disposed in this Privacy Policy through any one of these manners may be deemed as your consent to our data collection practices.
B. Verified Parental Consent
As previously detailed, we collect, through the provision of our services, Website, Misa Connect App, and Misa, a variety of personally identifiable information pertaining to you and your child. In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy, prior to collecting any such information pertaining to your child, we ask that you provide your verifiable parental consent to our data collection practices, as recited in this Privacy Policy. Specifically, what this means is that we require you to provide consent which we may verify.
Accordingly, upon your initial registration of Misa with us, as obtained through the Misa Connect App, we will ask you to confirm your consent (If the user is below 13 years, parents/ legal guardians has to accept terms and condition and signed digitally followed by an email on their registered email address for the verification of signature.) to collect the previously detailed information, such as the audio recordings we collect in providing our services.
Throughout this procedure we ask that you: (1) provide only your email address (i.e. the email address of the parent and/or legal guardian of your child); (2) maintain control over your device and email account throughout this process; and (3) carefully read this Privacy Policy. If you agree to the terms contained in this Privacy Policy, please click the button labeled “Accept” followed by another screen where parents / legal guardian has to sign in the Misa Voice App and an email with attached signature will be sent to parents. If we would not receive any email from parents confirming that the signature is not done by them with in 48 hours, we will continue with the Misa services and, it will constitute your verified parental consent to our collection of your child’s personal information.
IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS CONTAINED IN THIS PRIVACY POLICY, DO NOT CLICK THE BUTTON LABELED “ACCEPT” IN THE MISA VOICE APP. In such instance, neither we, nor any of our Partners or any other third parties associated with us, will collect any personal information pertaining to your child. In such instances, Misa will not record, or otherwise respond to, voice commands.
If you do not click the button labelled “Accept” in the Misa Voice App screen to the timeframe designated , we will presume you do not agree to the terms contained in this Privacy Policy and the voice App will be deactivated.
IV. Information We Share
In the course of providing our services, we sometimes may share certain collected information with subsidiaries within our control, or with certain third parties, as described below.
For example, we employ and outsource other companies and individuals, such as our subsidiaries, to perform functions on our behalf. Accordingly, we may share certain portions of your information to subsidiaries who, for example, store and analyze data, provide search results and links, provide customer service, and provide payment processing procedure. These subsidiaries will only receive that information necessary to provide their respective tasks.
Likewise, in the course of providing our services, we may make certain services, products, or applications provided by third parties available to you. For instance, certain applications are available on Misa to provide the previously mentioned Edutainment features for your children. In the event you utilize such a third-party service, product, or application in the course of utilizing our services, Website, Misa or Misa Connect App, we may transfer your information to such third-party so that they may provide you with their services.
Further, we may work with advertising partners to display certain internet-based advertisements to you on other websites. Such internet-based advertisements, sometimes referred to as personalized or targeted advertisements, are displayed to you according to your interaction with our services, Website, Misa, and Misa Connect App. Accordingly, certain Information You Provide and Passively Collected Information may be shared solely for the purpose of displaying such internet-based advertisements to you.
As we continue to develop our business, we might sell or buy subsidiaries or business units. If, in the course of such transactions, Misa Robotics or substantially all of its assets are acquired, your information may be one of the transferred assets.

VI. Our Data Security and Storage Practices
In protecting your and your child’s personal information, Misa Robotics uses commercially reasonable information security safeguards designed to protect our databases and servers against risks of loss, unauthorized access, destruction, misuse, modification, or inadvertent or improper disclosure of data. Further, we segregate certain personally identifiable and other information about users, especially any personally identifiable information pertaining to your child, into separate databases, some of which may only be accessed by a limited number of employees.
With specific reference to Actively Collected Information, namely, audio recordings, Misa Robotics will not store in our database, or any of our third party associate databases, any voice sample or recording of any user for a period of more than twenty four (24) hours from the time of recording. Likewise, Soundhound, one of our Partners, has been instructed to do the same.
If you have a Misa Robotics LLC account, it is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password and to your device. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared device or third Party Advertising and Links.
A. Notice in the Event of a Data Breach
In spite of our data security and storage practices, we recognize there remains a chance, however small, that a data breach may occur, whether through the intentional actions of a malicious actor, or otherwise. In the event such a data breach occurs, we recognize it is possible at least some of your personal information may be exposed. In the event this happens, we will notify you of the occurrence of such data breach, and inform you of the remedial actions we are taking, within thirty (30) days of the occurrence of such data breach.
Such notice will be provided through the email address you provide to us. Accordingly, please be sure to keep your provided email address up-to-date at all times.
VII. Your Data Privacy Rights and How to Exercise Them
Misa Robotics would like to take this minute to ensure you are fully aware of your data protection rights. Every user of our services, Website, Misa Connect App, and Misa, is entitled to the following:
A. The Right to Access
IYou have the right to request copies from Misa Robotics of your personal data. We may charge you a small fee for this service.
B. The Right to Rectification
You have the right to request that Misa Robotics correct any information that you believe to be inaccurate. You also have the right to request Misa Robotics complete information you believe to be incomplete.
C. The Right to Deletion
You have the right to request that Misa Robotics delete your personal information, under certain conditions.
D. The Right to Restrict Processing
You have the right to request that Misa Robotics restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
E. The Right to Object to Processing
You have the right to object to Misa Robotics’ processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
F. The Right to Data Portability
You have the right to request that Misa Robotics transfer the data that we collect to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.
G. The Right to Private Action
In the event we fail to implement and maintain the reasonable security procedures and practices outlined in this Privacy Policy, where such failure leads to the unauthorized access and exfiltration, theft, or disclosure of your non-redacted and unencrypted personal information, provided we are given thirty (30) days to cure the violation, notify you of such cure, and assure you no further violations shall occur. In no event shall we be liable for an amount greater than the minimum statutory amount of damages, as set by the applicable laws and regulations of the pertinent state. Should the applicable laws and regulations of any state fail to provide for a statutory amount of damages, then our liability shall hereby be limited to no greater than $100 per consumer, per incident.
H. Exercising Your Rights
We pledge not to discriminate against you in the provision of our services, Website, Misa, or Misa Connect App. Accordingly, you will receive the same level of service and care as originally provided, and we will ensure we continue to protect your data privacy interests in accordance with the procedures outlined in this Privacy Policy.
If you make any of these requests, we will respond to you within one month. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, you may either attempt to do so through our Misa Connect App, or you may contact us at contact@heymisa.com.
VIII. Closing Your Account
Should you wish to terminate your account with us, and cease using our services, Website, Misa, and Misa Connect App, please visit the settings on your Misa. Alternatively, you may request we close your account by sending us an email at the contact information provided in this Privacy Policy.
Upon such termination request, we will close your account and delete all personal information associated with such account. Your account will be closed as soon as reasonably possible. However, please note we may retain and use certain of your information (such as information regarding transactions made through our services) where permitted by law to prevent fraud, collect any fees owed, resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our user agreements and terms, and comply with legal requirements.
IX. Updates to This Privacy Policy
Misa Robotics keeps this Privacy Policy under regular review and may update this Privacy Policy at certain times. Any updates to this Privacy Policy will be placed on this page, and we will contact you upon any such updates using the contact information you provided us. Should you disagree with any updates we make to this Privacy Policy, please notify us and we will cease collecting your data immediately.
